GMN precision ball bearing sprag clutch units are a common component in the bakery industry.
GMN sprag clutches are used in dough divider/rounder equipment, among other machinery in the food production process. For mass production of bakery items such as breads, buns, tortillas, rolls, pizzas and more, this multi-tasking machine quickly and easily cuts & shapes dough in the same step. Divider/Rounders can be manufactured to varying degrees of automation and volume output to generate high levels of production.
Sprag clutches can be used to support indexed production lines, backstop safety protection on conveyors, motor overspeed protection, and varying other applications to protect equipment or increase throughput of the bakery production line.
One specific GMN sprag clutch application example is the divider/rounder produced by Gemini. Their design calls for an integrated bearing for a “plug and play” option to ease design requirements and shorten maintenance times.

For pressed in or on freewheel-cluch rings, no retainers are necessary for axial or radial security. Please note that even keywayed inner rings have to be pressfitted for proper function.
When mounting freewheel-clutches with bearings do not apply pressure to bearing balls. With the “RS” style it is necessary to specify clutch engagement direction.
